Aaron Glenn Will Meet With 5 NFL Teams Over A 48-Hour Span

The Detroit Lions have some time off before their first playoff game. By virtue of locking down the 1st seed in the NFC playoffs, they were granted a bye week during Wild Card Weekend, and will get started on their Super Bowl quest in the Divisional Round. But while they prepare, one of their coaches will be busy himself with finding a potential new home for next NFL season and beyond.

Aaron Glenn has been one of the names frequently mentioned in coaching searches over the past couple of years. But the Lions’ defensive coordinator has been in his current role since 2021, and could be on the brink of helping bring Detroit to their first Super Bowl appearance in franchise history.

Aaron Glenn Set To Interview For 5 NFL Coaching Vacancies

His work to improve his unit into a top-ten defense has helped vault him into being one of the top head coaching candidates for this year’s cycle, and he has a busy interview schedule in the coming days. According to Adam Schefter, Glenn has interviews set up with five of the six teams that are in need of a new leader.

All will take place within a 48-hour time frame. His lone meeting on Thursday night is with the New York Jets, a team he spent 8 years with as a player. On Friday, he’ll meet with the New Orleans Saints in the morning, followed by the Las Vegas Raiders that night. He’ll do a double dip on Saturday, as well, with meetings scheduled with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears.

In addition to the Jets, Glenn has familiarity with two of the other potential teams from his time in the NFL. He closed out his playing career by playing a season each with the Jaguars and Saints, and then was hired as the defensive backs coach in New Orleans as his second coaching stop. He got his start in the ranks as an assistant with the Cleveland Browns back in 2014.

According to BetOnline, Aaron Glenn is favored to become the next head coach of the Saints. He is listed as a -200 favorite in the category, followed by Joe Brady at +150. He’s third on the list for the Bears at +500, and fourth for the Jags at +700
