Aaron Donald paid the Los Angeles Rams a visit for the first time this offseason when he and Andrew Whitworth attended the team’s practice with the Dallas Cowboys this past week. Coaches and players were excited to see him out in Oxnard taking in the practice, even if they all wish he was on the field practicing with them.
He left Oxnard with one key takeaway that Rams fans will love to hear: Braden Fiske is legit. Whitworth said on the preseason broadcast Saturday night that in the car on the way home from practice, Donald told him how impressive Fiske was.
“That guy’s going to be a player,” Donald told Whitworth.
Fiske has been outstanding in practice this summer, so much so that the Rams don’t even need to see him in preseason games. He and Jared Verse, along with Blake Corum, are all sitting out these exhibition games because they’ve done enough in camp to secure a meaningful role this season.
Fiske should be a Day 1 starter alongside Kobie Turner on the defensive line and the fact that he’s already impressed Donald shows just how dominant he’s been thus far. The Rams have to be thrilled with what they’ve seen from him leading up to the season.
