Aaron Carter has checked himself into a rehabilitation programme for a fifth time after losing custody of his son.
Aaron, 34, shares 10-month old baby Prince with his fiancée Melanie Martin, and the pair filmed a video of themselves at Starbucks as they explained their situation.
At the beginning of the clip, which was obtained by The Sun US, Melanie says: "I'm gonna say first, I want us to figure out what we're doing right now and I think we are already there..."
Aaron then interrupts her and says: "We're not there, we're getting there!" as Melanie continues: "Then I would really like to just get married, move to another place..."
As the camera pans across to Aaron, he tells viewers: "We wanna get married in a place where my parents got married."
He then takes full control of the video and explains: "The main reason I enrolled myself in Lionrock Recovery is to help with the weed. I don't want to smoke weed any more, I don't really need to.
"I have a medicinal marijuana license to grow up to 99 plants a year. But I threw away all that gear, I sold all of it, got rid of all my plants and my strains that I was growing.
"And I was never even told I had to do that by DCFS [Department of Children and Family Services] or by the State of California. They never took away my guns, they never took away my regimented medications," Aaron continues.
"I decided to enrol myself into that programme because this will be my fifth time in rehabilitation and there's been no relapses. It's just that triggers are big right now for me."
Aaron then adds: "I just want my son back," referring to baby Prince.
According to The Sun US, Melanie's mother currently has custody of Prince under a court order.
Later on in the clip, Aaron says: "I actually every single time voluntarily put myself into programmes, three inpatient programmes and now an outpatient programme. So it's really important to me to stay on those regimented medications.
"I have tried to take myself off them three or four times and each time that I did, I didn't fall off the wagon, but I went to a very dark, depressed state and didn't function normally and some people need medication to function properly," he adds.
Aaron later told The Sun US: "Being a dad is the most important thing to me," he said. "Just being domesticated and civilised and adulting and taking care of my responsibilities."
