Thirteen mile diversion in place as lorry blaze closes A9

UPDATE: Both lanes on the A9 are now back to running in both directions.

THE A9 has been closed in both directions in Aviemore due to a lorry fire.

The blaze was reported at around 4.40am today (Thursday, February 13).

Police Scotland say that there are no reported injuries or casualties.

A diversion is in place through Aviemore with no end time given.

Northbound traffic is being asked to take the off slip onto the A86.

Southbound traffic is asked to turn left onto A95 and to follow the road until the B9152 junction.

Both diversions are roughly 13 miles in length.

Police Scotland thank motorists for their patience.
