A82 shut by police near Renton as woman rushed to hospital with serious injuries

A section of the A82 remains closed with emergency services on site in response to an incident which took place in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police say they were called to reports of an injured woman at the Stoneymollan Roundabout shortly before 1am. The 29-year-old was rushed to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and she's reported to have sutained serious injuries.

The northbound stretch of road remains closed, near Balloch, as officers continue their enquiries. The southbound road was also shut down following the incident, but has now reopened.

Diversions have been put in place, with drivers advised to expect delays.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to reports of an injured woman on the A82 at the Stoneymollan Roundabout, Balloch at around 12.50am on Sunday, 10 July, 2022.

“A 29 year-old woman was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious injuries.

“The road is currently closed northbound with diversions in place.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”

Diversions have been put in place, with drivers advised to expect delays.

Traffic Scotland say: "The A82 is currently closed northbound at Renton due to an ongoing police incident. Road users are advised to use the available signed diversion route.

"Motorists should expect longer than normal journey times.

"Northbound traffic on the A82 exit at Renton slips onto Renton Road towards Dumbarton, thereafter turn right onto the the A814 towards Helensburgh, thereafter turn right onto the A818 at Helensburgh, continue on the A818 and rejoin the A82 at Arden. Distance 13.8 miles approx."
