The A78 has been closed in both directions following a road crash at Monkton.
Traffic Scotland have confirmed that the route between Meadowhead Roundabout and Monktonhead Roundabout has been shut down on the major Ayrshire road.
Police, an ambulance and the fire brigade are currently in attendance and huge delays are being reported in the area as a result of the crash.
The latest Traffic Scotland update reads: "The A78 is closed BOTH WAYS between the Meadowhead Roundabout and Monktonhead Roundabout. Police are in attendance
"Traffic slow on approach."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said:“Around 12pm on Thursday, March 24, police attended a report of a serious road crash, involving a car and a lorry on the A78, south of The Loans slip road.
"Officers are currently in attendance and the road is closed."
