A6093 in Pencaitland closed to traffic after person hit by car in East Lothian

The busy A6093 in East Lothian has been closed after a person was hit by a car in Pencaitland.

The route is currently off limits to motorists due to a serious road traffic collision, which happened shortly after 7am, and people urged to avoid the area for the time being if possible.

The crash is understood to have happened near the SPAR garage, with traffic currently queuing in both directions as a result. There is heavy traffic back to the B6355 Tranent turn off and also to the B6371 Ormiston turn off.

Lothian Buses say that their service 113 has been affected, with buses unable to serve Ormiston and part of Pencaitland. They are instead being diverted via new Winton southbound.

Police Scotland say officers were called to the scene at 7.10am and the road is currently closed in both directions, with diversions in place.
