A5 crash sees man taken to hospital

A man was taken to hospital on Monday morning following a single vehicle road crash on the A5 near Omagh.

The crash happened on the A5 near the Ulster American Folk Park at around 9am on Monday.

Emergency services attended the scene following the crash, including the PSNI, NI Ambulance Servide and the NI Fire and Rescue Service.

The road was closed for a period on Monday but has since reopened to traffic.

“Police received a report of a one-vehicle road traffic collision on the Beltany Road, Omagh shortly after 9am this morning, Monday 27th March,” a PSNI statement said.

“Officers attended along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service. One man was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries.

“The road has since fully reopened to traffic.”

A spokesperson for the NI Ambulance service said the man was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital, while the Air Ambulance was also in attendance.

"The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 09:03 on Monday, 27 March 2023 following reports of an RTC in the Beltany Road area, Omagh," NIAS said.

"NIAS despatched one Ambulance and the Charity Air Ambulance with HEMS on board to the scene of the incident.

"Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, 1 patient was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital by Ambulance."
