A40 reopens several hours after serious crash between Raglan and Abergavenny

The A40 Monmouth Road has been reopened following a serious crash.

Traffic monitoring website Inrix reported that the road had been closed in both directions between Raglan and Abergavenny.

According to Inrix, the accident occurred at around 2pm on Monday 17th January, with the road being closed shortly after, between High Street in Raglan and the A465 Heads Of The Valleys Road in Abergavenny, for investigative work.

The road was reopened in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information about the accident, which has been described as a 'serious crash'.

Gwent Police confirmed via their Twitter account that the crash involved one car and took place at the Hardwick gyratory at around 2pm on Monday 17th January.

Anyone who may have dash-cam footage of the area between 1.45pm and 2.15pm is urged to contact police.
