A devastating hit-and-run that claimed the life of a 28-year-old woman in north London on Tuesday also killed two dogs she was walking, police have revealed.
Police, paramedics, and an air ambulance were sent to the scene on the A10 Cambridge Road dual carriageway in Edmonton, around 7.25pm.
A female pedestrian, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver failed to stop for police.
Scotland Yard revealed on Thursday morning she is believed to have been out walking two dogs, who were also killed.
A Met spokesperson added that a 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.
He has been bailed to return on a date in mid-February pending further enquiries.
"Detectives are keen to speak with the driver of a red Audi who was in the vicinity of the collision at the time it happened", the Met spokesperson added on Thursday.
They added the woman's next-of-kin have been informed of her death, and are being supported by specially trained officers.
The A10 was closed in both directions between the B154 Church Street and Bury Street in Edmonton for around 12 hours following the crash, while Specialist Road Traffic Officers investigated. It has since reopened.
