Traffic Scotland have warned commuters to take care after a road collision occurred just outside of Haddington on the A1 Northbound.
The incident took place on the A1 A6093 Haddington - West of Tyne Bridge at around 3:55pm this afternoon, January 27.
Passers by have stated that emergency services were in attendance at the scene with two fire engines, police officers and a paramedic on site.
It is understood that this has led to a standstill for traffic coming from Dunbar and travelling west towards Haddington and Edinburgh.
Traffic Scotland described the incident as follows: “A1 at Haddington is currently restricted northbound due to a road traffic incident. Road users are advised to use caution on approach and expect longer than normal journey times.”
One Facebook user said: “A1 at a complete standstill. Currently sitting in it.”
Another said: “Heads up if anyone is heading to haddington on bypass. 2 bad crashes we have reported one as we just missed it and had to swerve to avoid it could be due to low sun but emergency services already at 2nd one. Hope all involved are OK.”
Whilst another said: “Been backed up for 40 minutes now.”
The other road traffic collision was reported further along the A1 with Traffic Scotland posting on Twitter: “A720 B701 (Dreghorn Jct) - A702 (Lothianburn Jct) - Accident, 1 lane restricted Westbound https://tscot.org/01c309941 #TSIncident”
Although the collision at Dreghorn is understood to have been cleared.
Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
