A very happy mother's day for 106.3's Kristen Davidson who is having another baby

It will be an especially joyful Mother's Day on Sunday for popular Canberra radio presenter Kristen Davidson who has announced she is pregnant again.

She and husband Iain are beyond excited for the arrival of the new bub in early October.

They are already parents to cute-as-a-button Hugo who turns two in August.

"He was really the deciding factor for us to grow our family," Kristen said.

"Seeing how playful he is - he's a real cuddler - seeing how he plays with his friends at daycare. We thought, 'He needs a mate! Someone to play with'."

Iain, a national director at Colliers International, is ready to get back into the swing of nappies and bottles and welcome a new member of the family.

"It's exciting, really exciting," Iain said.

"At this age, Hugo is very busy but he's wonderful, absolutely wonderful. He's very social, like his mum."

The pregnancy has been not always smooth sailing.

Kristen had COVID at eight weeks. "I would not recommend the COVID and pregnancy double whammy. I didn't know when the COVID ended and the morning sickness began," she said.

And she went up in a hot air balloon for the Canberra Balloon Spectacular - and landed in a helicopter at Thoroughbred Park to present a trophy in her role as a racing ambassador - at the height of her morning sickness. No one knew she was pregnant.

"I kept thinking, 'When everyone finds out they are going to feel so guilty'," she said, with a laugh.

Iain and Kristen married in glamorous nuptials in New Zealand on May 4, 2019, celebrating their third wedding on Wednesday.

They are choosing not to find out the birth of the new bub. Kristen says her instinct is saying a girl, but her body is saying a boy.

"As an adult, you don't get many surprises, true surprises," she said.

They decided not to announce the pregnancy until Kristen was 18 weeks as she sadly suffered a miscarriage late last year. The couple considered fertility treatment but ended up conceiving naturally.

Kristen, who co-hosts the breakfast shift on 106.3 with Nigel Johnson, plans to work until the end of radio ratings in September and return early in the new year, working from home some of the time.

"They've built me a studio at home which has been amazing," she said.
