A tiny Scottish island has the perfect summer job for food and drink lovers

With summer not too far away (thankfully) it's time to start thinking about your plans and, one of the country's most exciting up-and-coming gin distilleries is in the market for some seasonal staff to come and work for them.

Ever fancied escaping the city for a few months? Well, North Uist Distillery, which is based on the island of the same name, is looking for two lucky candidates to come and join them Between April and September.

Fancy working on one of the country's most beautiful islands where golden beaches, aquamarine waters and stunning scenery abounds? Well, these roles could be for you.

Looking for two seasonal summer staff to join them at the Nunton Steadings Visitor Centre, Benbecula, the roles are open to anyone over the age of 18, with the hourly rate dependent on experience.

The distillery, which produces the popular Downpour Gin, posted: "We’re looking for enthusiastic and passionate gin ambassadors to join our team. You will meet and greet our visitors to Nunton Steadings Visitor Centre during the summer of 2023.

"Are you friendly and welcoming? Do you love chatting to customers and enjoy working in a busy and bustling environment? We’re looking for someone who is confident providing excellent front of house customer service. You will be based in the Downpour Shop and Island Life Bar where you will run tastings and events throughout the visitor centre.

"Are you a people person? You will need to work well within our small visitor centre team and be willing to help out in all aspects of the role from cleaning to restocking, from pouring drinks to educating customers about our brand and products."

They added that training will be provided, as well as the successful candidates being given the chance to learn the processes behind making Downpour Gin and their plans for whisky.

With shop opening hours usually 10 am -5.30 pm, the days of work are flexible but "must include some Saturdays and weekends".

The post finishes: "This role would suit anyone looking for an exciting customer-facing role over the summer particularly students who are available during this time. Spoken Gaelic is desirable."

There is no mention of whether accommodation will be provided for the roles.
