We’ve seen some questionable check swing calls in our time, but uh, this one? This one is BAD.
Teoscar Hernandez was up at the plate for the Los Angeles Dodgers when he checked his swing on a 1-2 pitch from Colorado Rockies reliever Victor Vodnik. But the replay showed he almost certainly swung, at least in my mind. Everyone from fans to the booth seemed to agree except the umpires … but then Hernandez hit a go-ahead three-run homer to give the Dodgers a lead and the eventual win.
This is just the worst — a called strike on that swing and the game is over. And Jake Cave’s reaction in right field after the dinger summed it all up:
If this was ruled a swing it would've been the last out of the game…

It appeared Teoscar Hernández struck out to end the game, but it was ruled no swing.
The Rockies booth was not happy… especially after Hernández hit a go-ahead 3-run HR on the next pitch to cap off a 7-run Dodgers inning.
