An Adelaide Sunrise reporter revealed that he and his crew were robbed live on air, ironically while reporting on rising crime rates in the city.
Reporter Hayden Nelson was reporting from Rundle Mall, when a random passerby casually greeted him. Unbeknownst to him, the man then yanked an expensive light (which prominently featured the Seven logo) and ran off, which the crew only noticed after they got off air.

Half an hour later when Nelson went live again, he told presenter Edwina Bartholomew that they had been robbed.
“Just to give you an idea of just how brazen some of the crime is, this morning during our last live cross half an hour ago someone came and took the light off our light stand,” Nelson said in the broadcast.
“Normally we have about three lights here, they’ve just pulled that blatantly off and walked away with it.
“Any calls for security, any need for police certainly made clear for us this morning.”
Nelson also told 7NEWS that the person “probably didn’t even know what it is used for and how much it’s worth”.
“It would be impossible for them to use, as the light itself needs a battery which is a broadcast quality battery which you can only get in the industry, and then you need the charger for it,” he said.
On Thursday, South Australia police released an image of the alleged thief holding the stolen lighting equipment in their hand.

The man is shown wearing an orange beanie, a green shirt and dark bermuda shorts (oh wow, very Billie Eilish-core).
Police have appealed for any individuals who might identify this man to contact them.
