Another Simple Favour director Paul Feig has slammed rumours about the film’s stars, Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively, being embroiled in a bitter feud.
Following the premiere of the film at SXSW, gossip YouTuber Melanie King took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a photo of the cast together whilst commenting that Anna was “pissed” and “never wants to work” with Blake again.
Paul, who worked with Anna and Blake on A Simple Favour in 2018 and its 2025 sequel, cut down the bold claim with three little words: “Um… You’re wrong.”
In case you missed it, the beef rumours between Anna and Blake were reignited at the premiere when Anna seemingly did everything she could to avoid answering what it was like working with the Gossip Girl alum.
During one red carpet moment, she brushed off the question by saying “oh, you know” before rushing to interact with fans.
In another red carpet interview, the Pitch Perfect star had a very hilarious response when she was asked whether she felt that Another Simple Favour would be impacted by “everything happening, going on in the world”, with the journalist subtly referring to the ongoing legal drama between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.
“Why, what happened?” Anna quipped.
“I did ayahuasca, and the last year of my life is just gon, but I’ve heard the movie’s amazing.”
It’s not the first time that the director or the stars of the film have been confronted with whispers that Blake’s legal dramas would affect Another Simple Favour‘s release.
Back in January, Paul took to X in an attempt to put that gossip to bed.
“This is total BS. Sorry,” he wrote in response to a now-deleted Tweet.
“The movie is finished and coming out soon. Don’t believe anything you read on social media these days.”
Despite the vibes at the premiere from Anna, she has previously spoken very highly of working with Blake, telling PEOPLE that it was “lovely” to reunite on the sequel.
“I think that those characters have such weird chemistry that it’s so fun to just get the gang back together, and it does feel a little bit like riding a bike,” she said.
In case you’ve somehow missed it, Blake and Justin are currently suing each other in federal court in New York.
Lively filed a lawsuit against Justin and Wayfarer Studios in December for sexual harassment and allegedly orchestrating a “smear campaign” to destroy her reputation. Meanwhile, Justin fired back with his own lawsuit two weeks later, accusing Blake, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and their publicist Leslie Sloane of defamation, civil extortion and invasion of privacy.
The trial between Lively and Baldoni is set to begin next year on March 9, 2026.
