Everton manager Frank Lampard has revealed that Yerry Mina has suffered yet another injury setback ahead of Saturday’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur but Nathan Patterson’s recovery is going well. Colombian international centre-back Mina went off with an ankle injury in the 1-0 home defeat to Chelsea in the opening game of the season and has not featured since.
He was pictured in training in photographs released by the club today but Lampard confirmed that the 28-year-old – who has featured in less than half of the 161 Premier League games since he signed for the club – has been ruled out again. Going through the availability of his players, he said: “Doucs (Abdoulaye Doucoure, who was not included against Manchester United) had a family issue but he’s back in the squad for tomorrow.
“Mason (Holgate) is training, he’s not ready to be in the squad yet but he’s training really well. Yerry had a little bit of a setback this week (small calf injury), so he won’t be available.”

However, Lampard confirmed that Patterson, who was given a prognosis of being out for four to five weeks with an ankle injury picked up on Scotland duty last month, is on the comeback trail. He said: “Patterson we’re hoping will be fit in two to three weeks and Ben (Godfrey) is a bit behind, it’s his first days out really on the grass so we’re probably looking at the other side of the World Cup break.”
Meanwhile, the Blues boss also explained that despite Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s return to action off the bench against Manchester United, he is still having to proceed with a cautious approach with the striker. He said: “It’s great to have Dominic back, we’re in a process with Dominic where he’s not taking part in every part of training in terms of where we’d want to push him to get him completely match fit just in terms of the process of getting him fit and robust and staying fit.
“So we’ll just have to see that over the next days and weeks, how we get him to that optimum level and how quickly we can get him there.”
