A secret rooftop cinema experience has announced its Christmas schedule - and it features a variety of festive classics. Backyard Cinema recently opened its cosy winter indoor cinema up on the roof of Depot Mayfield in Manchester.
The 330-capacity cinema opened at the end of October and is Backyard Cinema's first venture in the north. Showcasing a series of all-time favourite and classic Christmas films, the festive specials include Elf, Home Alone, Love Actually, The Holiday and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
As well as noughties classics, films from the 90s will feature including Nightmare Before Christmas, The Muppet Christmas Carol, Miracle on 34th Street and many more. There will be three screenings a day at 12pm, 4pm, and 8pm and additional midnight screenings on selected days may be available.

After a decade of creating experiential cinema experiences in the capital the creators of Backyard Cinema landed in Manchester just in time for Halloween. Hitting Manchester for a limited ten-week run, it features a cinema room, complete with an enchanted forest, two bars, street food stalls and a live music stage.
The cinematic transformation has seen derelict railways tracks, platforms, the original ticket office, waiting room and signature cast iron converted to cinema experience of movie-grade quality, all while overlooking Mayfield Park. Speaking at the cinema's opening back in October, Dominic Davies, founder and CEO of Backyard Cinema, said: “We like to take you on a journey to other worlds from some of your favourite films.
“We like to keep a few secrets for when you arrive, but as you can see your journey will start in Dr Portelli’s Curious Curiosities. The whole point of Backyard Cinema is that you can come for a whole day out, so we’ve got the waiting room bar and the Tavern where you can enjoy mulled wine, boozy hot chocolate, beers, wines and chillout to some live music."
The screening room, meanwhile will be filled with custom-made giant bean bag seating for guests to get comfortable, while ushers will be serving seasonal cocktails and sweet treats to create a magical setting to sit back, relax and to watch a festive movie.
Tickets are priced from £10 for children (aged 14 and under) and £20 for adults. To view the full listings and book Backyard Cinema Manchester you can visit the cinema's website.
