A true crime network has announced they are already in production on a documentary series about Sean “P Diddy” Combs, just days after the rapper was arrested on charges of sex trafficking.
The documentary was announced on Wednesday by Investigation Discovery, the same network behind fellow bombshell docuseries Quiet On Set, which arrived in March and exposed claims of a toxic environment and the sexual abuse of a minor on the set of multiple Nickelodeon TV shows.
According to a press release (via The Hollywood Reporter), the Combs documentary will explore “the rise and influence” of the rapper and “the allegations of violent behaviour and illegal activity that have trailed the music mogul”.
The official logline adds that the documentary, set for release sometime in 2025, will “trace the story of this self-proclaimed Bad Boy and unravel allegations of a pattern of depravity”.
The network has not yet revealed who will participate in the series, but did confirm that it will include voices of those who have levelled allegations against the musician, as well as “friends and colleagues who knew and worked with Combs before his stardom”.
Co-producers, Rolling Stone Pictures, are also said to have accessed archival footage and undergone in-depth reporting for the documentary.
News of the series comes just two days after Combs was arrested in New York by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), following a grand jury indictment on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.
The indictment accuses Combs of various crimes related to an alleged decades-long pattern of physical and sexual violence. The FBI alleges Combs orchestrated a vast criminal enterprise in which he assaulted and trafficked women with the help of his various businesses since at least 2008.
The arrest is the latest update in Combs’ long and ongoing legal troubles, with the rapper facing major allegations of sexual assault over the last year.
In 2023, Combs’ former girlfriend Cassandra Ventura filed a lawsuit detailing years of sexual abuse, and while that was quickly settled out of court, at least five others have come forward with similar accusations since then.
Sean Combs has denied all allegations against him, with his attorney Marc Agnifilo saying this week that they are “disappointed” by the “unjust prosecution” and arrest.
“[Combs] is an imperfect person but is not criminal,” Agnifilo said.
