Most regions in the UK deal with stereotypes, but it's fair to say the ones that Scousers deal with are on the harsher side.
Wondering what people thought about his home city, A Scouse Reddit user called Lewisy0821 posted on the international forum asking for peoples' assumptions about Liverpool.
Here's what sprung to mind when people across the world thought of the city.

Merseybeat
Let's get the obvious out of the way first. Liverpool's legacy on music history is recognised around the world so it's no surprise it's the first thing on peoples' mind.
One commenter said: "As an American, I only associate [Liverpool] with The Beatles." Another reminisced about Gerry and The Pacemakers. They said: "Shell suits, perms, pacemakers".
The Accent
Despite somehow being voted amongst the least sexy accent in the UK (according to a 2021 study of 2,000 people that clearly didn't know what they were talking about), the Scouse accent has plenty of admirers.
Reddit user carlp1985 said: "It’s a city with everything and the people tend to be the nicest people you could ever meet! Oh and the accent is hot as!"
Friendly and strong-spirited people
Commenters overwhelmingly praised the reputation of locals as striking a rare balance of tough AND friendly.
One said: "Never met a Scouser I didn't like."
Itchyfrog said: "Scousers have a unique outlook on life and aren't afraid to talk back to authority."
Another said: "I've been to Liverpool and people were very friendly. No sooner had me and my friends got a map out than some bloke stopped to ask us if we needed directions."
A good night out
One Reddit user replied: "If you go out for a drink in Liverpool and I mean anywhere in Liverpool at any time of day or night and don't have an amazing time, you are a miserable ****."
Difficult to argue with that one.
What else do people think about Liverpool?
GaryJM said: "It's England's Glasgow: boomed during the Industrial Revolution, one of the British Empire's main ports, lots of influence from across the Irish sea, strong working class heritage, home to a thriving arts and music scene, less industrial than it was but you can still see the city's history everywhere, football-mad....."
But maybe it doesn't matter at all what people think about this wonderful city because as GaryJM concludes: "[It gets] gets looked down upon by folk in the capital but generally pays those people no heed."
Oh, and Lister from Red Dwarf.
