Amazon and Vogue Williams are on a mission to give the nation’s parents a break by helping their kids fall asleep quickly.
The Irish TV personality and online retail giant have partnered up to release a science-backed bedtime story that is apparently proven to help children fall asleep faster.
It came after an Amazon survey of 1,000 people found that 25% of parents in the UK struggled to put their children to bed regularly, with around 12% adding this was a consistent challenge.
Working with sleep expert Professor Helen Ball, the group has created a story now available on Amazon’s Alexa that can help soothe your little ones before bed.
Inspired by Vogue’s animal-obsessed six-year-old son Theodore, the story, titled Tumbles and Stripes, follows two young tigers preparing for their bedtime routine with their mother.
The science behind the story focuses on tried and tested strategies that tend to help kids fall asleep, including soothing themes, the passage of time and a decreasing volume.
However, Bell also added that there are some other crucial bedtime strategies that can help your kids doze off sooner, such as limiting exposure to bright and blue light.
“I know first-hand that getting the little ones to sleep is no easy feat, and parents really do need all the help they can get when it comes to bedtime for their kids,” said Williams.
“‘Tumbles and Stripes’ on Alexa is a super accessible helping hand for parents experiencing these nighttime struggles and it’s been a gamechanger in our house... so give it a go!”
To listen, Alexa owners simply need to say to their device: “Alexa, help my child fall asleep”, and Williams will instantly start narrating the bedtime story.
Bell also pointed out that the new bedtime routine facilitated through Alexa will also make parent’s lives a lot easier.
“A consistent and effective bedtime routine is crucial for any child, and in turn will make parent’s lives easier too,” she said.
“Through working with Amazon and Vogue, we’ve managed to curate a story that incorporates scientifically backed components that will lead children to a peaceful sleep, which is even more effective when paired with the all-new bedtime routine on Alexa.”
