A popular pick in many 2025 NFL mock drafts for the Jacksonville Jaguars is Michigan cornerback Will Johnson. However, in Daniel Jeremiah’s first mock of this draft cycle, Johnson didn’t even go inside the top-10.
Jeremiah is one of the best in the business when it comes to the draft. While at this early stage of the pre-draft process, a lot will change, and trying to gauge where Johnson will be selected still comes with some unknowns, given Jeremiah’s track record, where he has Johnson landing is at least noteworthy.
Rather than having Johnson go fifth overall to the Jaguars or in that neighborhood as many have, Jeremiah had him being taken at pick 15 by the Atlanta Falcons.
“Johnson is a polarizing player around the league,” wrote Jeremiah. “He provides size and production, but some questions emerged about his tackling and top speed in 2024.”
Johnson is listed at 6-2 – 202 pounds, Due to a turf toe injury, he appeared in only six games in 2024. However, over his three seasons at Michigan, Johnson allowed a completion rate of just 53% at 13.4 yards per catch with good ball production, coming away with nine interceptions and seven pass breakups.
Cornerback is very much a need for the Jaguars–as is safety. Last season, the Jacksonville secondary would allow the ninth-highest completion rate, the second-most yards per pass attempt, and the second-highest opponent quarterback passer rating, per Pro Football Reference.
