A Place In The Sun's Jonnie Irwin reveals home renovations have hit snag in recent update

A Place In the Sun host Jonnie Irwin has given his fans on social media another home renovation update, after revealing the huge project which will see him convert a property for his family to live in has hit a bump in the road.

The 49-year-old, who is sadly facing a terminal cancer battle, took to his Instagram as he spoke with fans on how things are progressing for his home-building project for his wife Jessica and three boys.

Channel 4 property presenter Jonnie faces cancer on the brain, after the deadly disease spread from his lungs but continues to work as an inspiration to others after promising to "make the most of every day" following the prognosis.

And in his recent update, he admitted the team had hit a snag, which meant they were forced to come out during the Bank holiday weekend to try and fix repairs.

Jonnie wrote: “After the completion of the Facia we were all disappointed with the end result. The bubbles of welding underneath were visible.

"I wasn’t happy and nor was @steblyth1988 but then we were trying out a different approach with a new material. We then went back and applied aluminium."

"I’m really happy with the results and impressed/grateful for to @steblyth1988 and his side kick Ste for coming back on their days off to get it just right. #thedevilsinthedetails #renovation," he added.

Jonnie, also known for Escape to the Country, held his 50th birthday celebrations earlier this year and has defied the predictions of doctors after his lung cancer spread to his brain.

The father of three has been battling the disease with medical treatment like hyperbaric oxygen therapy and has also reorganised his diet to ‘starve’ cancer.

Jonnie first shared the heartbreaking admission that he "doesn't know how long" he has left to live in November, after first being diagnosed with lung cancer in August 2020, which has since spread to his brain.

The doting family man went public with his tragic diagnosis last year after saying he is making as many memories as possible with his wife and three sons, Rex, three, and two-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac.

It comes after Jonnie said he is planning to record video messages so he can still speak to his beloved wife and three children after he passes away.
