A Place in the Sun's Jonnie Irwin has been left "horrified" after using a new product to clean the inside of his ears. The Channel 4 presenter decided to give his lugs a good clear out using Hopi ear candle sticks and has been left very surprised by the results.
The 49-year-old dad-of-three has shared an image of himself on Instagram to his 154,000 followers and fans showing him lying on a sofa, looking rather confused, with a candle stick in his ear.
He captioned the picture: "Wasn’t sure about letting my wife stick Hopi ear candles in my lug holes but surprised/horrified with the results." Jonnie then joked: "I’ll spare you the ‘after’ photos!"
Many of his fans have commented, one writing: "Did it work? Its never seemed to make a difference for me …" Another posted: "Oooo have been considering this but never sure if they're a scam!! Was it worth it?"
Someone else said: "These are a great holistic way of helping blocked ears. Really worked for me." While a fourth penned: "They are always horrific!!"
In November last year, Jonnie announced he was sick with lung cancer, but kept his diagnosis a secret for two years as he didn't want to be "treated differently". He later revealed it had spread to his brain then his liver, and doesn't know how long he has left.
In a heartbreaking interview on BBC's Morning Live, a month later the TV personality revealed he is getting his financial ducks in a row so he can secure the futures of his sons three year-old Rex and two year-old twins Rafa and Cormac.
He said: "My experience will hopefully help people with a life-threatening disease and people who are dealing with these people. When you get diagnosed with something so serious, all control is taken away.
"I wanted to take control back, so I did the usual weird diets and I also knew I had to look after my family. The moment you have family, your have this massive responsibility to look after them."
