Danni Menzies has told her fans she is taking a social media break after being 'taken out' by a stolen moped.
The A Place in the Sun presenter took to her Instagram Stories earlier today [October 3] to update her followers on the situation and explain why she may be quieter on the social media platform over the coming days - as she processes what happened to her over the weekend.
Sharing an image of the damaged moped online, Danni told her 103,000 followers how she plans to take a break from social media following the scary experience and while 'it's not looking pretty right now', she's confident she will feel better soon.
Writing to her fans, Danni, 33, said: "Sooooo…. On Saturday I was taken out (on the pavement!) by a stolen moped that lost control.
"Didn’t see it coming and it’s not looking pretty right now tbh.
"I’m sure I will be fine in a few weeks but in the meantime I will be a wee bit quiet on here."
Danni's crash comes following her announcement she is set to step down from her role on A Place in the Sun, after six years starring on the long-running Channel 4 series.
The Scottish star was a popular addition to the property programme when she first appeared on screen back in 2016, but has decided to step down to pursue projects closer to home.
Danni will appear on the show for at least another year before she bids farewell to viewers for the final time, with the Channel 4 series filming multiple episodes well in advance meaning A Place in the Sun fans will still see Danni alongside presenter Jean Johansson and the other hosts for a bit longer.
A Place in the Sun first aired on Channel 4 in 2000 and has since gone to help hundreds of British couples who are looking to move from their home in dreary Britain for the sun, sea and sand abroad.
Laura Hamilton took over presenting the long-running series in 2012, joining Jasmine as a co-presenter after the property expert first appeared on the show in 2004.
Earlier this year, Danni - who recently split from her boyfriend - opened up about the crude and disgusting snaps she gets sent on social media from men every time the show airs.
The TV star said she gets around 300 messages every time show is broadcast – with some of the rudest messages often coming from men double her age sending images she would much rather not have to open.
The Scottish star has admitted she is so sick of it that she has considered taking drastic action .
"It was one of the first things that happened once I got the job and it was pretty disgusting," she told Entertainment Daily.
"I considered finding the guy’s mother on Facebook and sending it to her but I didn’t. It would’ve terrified her."
Danni added: "I literally get about 300 every time the show’s on.
"They say: ‘Do you have a minute to talk?’ ‘Can I take you out on Friday?’ Just from Jim who’s 65 and I’m like really, really Jim? I never reply. Definitely not. Block and delete."
