A Place in the Sun's Craig Rowe cries 'oh dear' as buyer shares 'private' concern

Craig Rowe said "oh dear" after a buyer shared a "private" concern on A Place in the Sun.

The expert was helping Sylvia find her dream home in the northern Dordogne on Tuesday's edition of the popular Channel 4 programme. Sylvia was joined by her friend, Angie, as she viewed five homes in the beautiful region of France.

She was armed with a maximum budget of £325,000 and was looking for a permanent home to move to when she retired. Sylvia was looking for a three-bedroom character property with a two bedroom gite to rent out for a bit of extra income.

The search got off to a great start as Sylvia loved the first home on the search. However, things took a turn for the worse with the second property, which was a fully renovated four bedroom house in Saint Privat.

Sylvia spotted an issue before she even viewed the interior as the gite was situated directly opposite the home. The buyer was worried the layout would mean there would be a lack of privacy as you could see into her house.

Angie also identified an issue as the home was set on two acres of land. She added: "There's a lot of buildings here and lot of responsibility."

Craig was alarmed by the response as he added: "Oh dear, not quite the reaction I was looking for."

The buyer was impressed by the interior, but Craig was disappointed as it was not enough to overcome the initial concern. The host said: "I thought this ticked all the boxes. OK, there's two acres of land but I thought the house would make up for it. I don't think it does."

Sylvia tasked Craig to find a home with half an acre less outdoor space and where the gite is separate from the main property. The house-hunter was wowed by the fourth home on the search, which was a three bedroom house in Monsec.

The home was priced at £211,864 and Sylvia put in an initial bid of £180,000. The offer was rejected and Sylvia eventually secured the home for £205,000 with the furniture.
