A Place in the Sun host gives buyers 'reality check' ahead of showing 'killer bed'

A Place in the Sun featured a "killer" bed this evening as the host gave the guests a "reality check".

Laura Hamilton helped Jennie look for a holiday home in the western Costa del Sol. Joining the house hunter on the search was her friend of 40 years, Kate.

The buyer had a budget of £85,000, which had come from an inheritance from her mum. She thought buying a property abroad would be a touching way to honour her late parent.

Jennie asked for a two-bedroomed home that didn't need any work doing to it. But Laura gave the buyer a warning as she said that there wasn't really any wiggle room in the budget.

Property expert Laura said: "I have to give you a serious reality check... A budget of under £90,000 for a two bedroom property is going to be exceptionally tough. So I think in terms of your budget we are definitely going to need to have some flexibility there."

Jennie replied as she said: "I think if we're going to be in the buzz of it, the only option is for a one bedroom. But I'm prepared to compromise on it whether I have to go further out to get the two bedrooms." She added that anywhere that she could get a taxi to and from a big night out would be "perfect".

Laura went on to show the friends five stunning properties around the Spanish area. One of the homes was a studio apartment with a very unique feature - a hidden bed.

The host explained that the rooms were "very cleverly laid out" as she pointed to a bookshelf and said: "This is the bed." She went on to demonstrate how it worked as the shelves rotated around to reveal a hidden fold-out bed.

While the buyers thought that the bed was "brilliant" fans on Twitter weren't too sure and feared that it could be dangerous. One user warned that the bed could be a 'killer' as they said: "Oh yes I remember tweeting before about that pull down bed and how two old ladies died when one fell on them, trapped for days. #aplaceinthesun."

Others had their minds blown by the concept as another said: "Never seen a hidden fold down bed? - someone show her a Swiss army knife, that would really blow her mind… #aplaceinthesun".
