Sanket Upadhyay will soon leave NDTV as the network’s consulting editor after a four-year stint. Announcing the move on X, he indicated that he will have a “new professional address” soon.
“My exciting second stint at NDTV will soon come to an end. This one was special. I shall have a new professional address. Soon,” he tweeted.
Newslaundry reached out to him for comment. This report will be updated if a response is received.
Upadhyay earlier worked with CNN News 18 as deputy executive editor.
While his next move is uncertain, he put out a video appeal on Koo app before announcing his exit from NDTV on X, urging his followers to connect on the platform to share views and “exciting moments” in life behind the camera. He said there are two ways to present one’s views. An easier way that is popular and the difficult way that is dignified, he said.
Upadhyay earlier worked for NDTV between 2005 and 2008 before he joined Times Now as a reporter.
This comes nearly five months after NDTV anchor and senior editor Sarah Jacob resigned from the news channel.
There have been a series of resignations from NDTV following the channel’s takeover by the Adani group. Prannoy and Radhika Roy quit as directors of the board of NDTV promoter RRPRH last November. A day later, noted journalist Ravish Kumar resigned from the channel.
In early January, the channel’s group president Suparna Singh resigned, as did chief strategy officer Arijit Chatterjee and chief technology and product officer Kawaljit Singh Bedi. Sreenivasan Jain then announced that his three-decade journey with NDTV had come to an end. Three days later, Nidhi Razdan tweeted her resignation too.
Watch Newslaundry’s interview with Ravish on why his decision to quit wasn’t “just emotional”.
