A Melbourne beauty clinic is reportedly taking legal action after a client left a scathing Google review detailing what she described as an “incredibly disappointing” experience after receiving treatment last year.
CitySlim and Laser Clinic on Collins Street is reportedly suing for defamation and seeking a written apology and more than $2,000 penalty from a Melbourne woman over the one-star review.
According to the Herald Sun, a writ filed to Victoria’s County Court last month, solicitors representing the business and owner/ manager Leila Fathabad claim there were “aggravated damages” and costs as a result of the negative review.
The clinic offers a number of beauty and medical treatments, such as cellulite and fat removal, skin tightening, and lymphatic drainage.
The review on Google — which remains online at the time of writing — states she went to the clinic for help with her fibrosis concerns after a liposuction procedure.

She alleges she was often assigned a trainee who “did not know how to operate the machine effectively” and when she did work with the manager, she claims to have been criticised her appearance and was pointed to additional treatments.
“As a 25-year-old woman, being told my face is sagging and that I need facial sessions alongside my other treatments felt inappropriate and unnecessary,” she wrote.
“The suggestion of needing 60 sessions to address my fibrosis, which would have costed me $22,680, was simply outrageous.”
She further claimed she received “irresponsible” advice at the clinic to lose weight, including cutting out food groups and eating only 1,500 calories a day.
“I’m not here to slander your business, I simply want others to be aware of my experience,” the client wrote.
The business firmly disagreed with the characterisation of events in a lengthy response, stating they were “genuinely shocked” by the review.
In the reply, CitySlim Clinic said they were concerned the review did not reflect the “care and professionalism” they believed she received.
They claimed the client consistently voiced satisfaction with the services until her last visit in December 2024, noting there were positive results over the course of 10 post-liposuction treatments. They also claimed she had booked additional sessions for January and February 2025.

Addressing claims regarding upselling treatments, they wrote the technician offered “only general information” and said that she would need to book a face consultation if she were interested in facial treatments.
“At no point were you pressured to book additional services,” it said.
As reported by the Herald Sun, the client stands accused of suggesting that the clinic hired “unqualified staff”, took advantage of clients by intentionally delivering inferior services, and participated in unethical behavior by making comments about her appearance and pushing unnecessary treatments.
