A man has died and six people have been seriously injured in a tour bus crash in Australia's Red Centre, west of Alice Springs, Northern Territory Police say.
Watch commander Senior Sergeant Andrew Heath said emergency services received a report about 3:30pm on Monday that a bus had rolled.
"The bus containing passengers was returning back to Alice Springs where for some reason the driver has lost control," Senior Sergeant Heath said.
The incident took place on Larapinta Drive, five kilometres east of the remote community of Hermannsburg, more than one hour west of Alice Springs.
It is believed the vehicle was carrying about 20 passengers.
Senior Sergeant Heath said medical staff from Hermannsburg clinic attended the scene, as did St John Ambulance NT and the NT Fire and Rescue Service.
All six seriously injured people were then transported to Alice Springs Hospital, he said.
Senior Sergeant Heath said police were continuing to investigate the incident, and urged motorists to avoid the area if possible.
Drivers of heavy vehicles are being urged to use Namatjira Drive.
"The crash is being investigated by the major crash investigation unit and they're going to prepare a report for the coroner," Senior Sergeant Heath said.
NT Worksafe is also investigating the circumstances of the crash.
