'A lot to ask' - Ian Wright makes Diogo Jota claim and tips Liverpool forward to leave

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has suggested one of Liverpool's attackers might leave the club amid a more intense battle for game time due to the arrival of Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota 's red-hot goal-scoring form.

Jota notched two more goals on Thursday night in what has been a prolific season so far, as he found the finishes that separate the Reds and Leicester City in a dominant win at Anfield.

That game also marked the Premier League debut of Diaz, who didn't look out of place in his new surroundings little more than a week after signing from FC Porto.

The future looks bright for the Colombian on Merseyside, while Jota's form has earned rave reviews from all sides during what has been a stellar season.

While those things are obviously great for Liverpool, Wright has warned that Jota making himself undroppable and Diaz's arrival might spell the beginning of the end for one of the original trio of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.

"[Jota] was a great buy and even when Liverpool bought him you think 'oh, that's interesting'," the man who scored 287 league goals in his club career told Premier League Productions.

"An interesting buy, you wonder where he's going to fit in, how is he going to break into that front three?

"What's happened now is that he's done it so well that you actually talk about it as a four with them now, and he's a part of it.

"Maybe one of the three will go because they know that he's somebody that will score the goals.

"You could say maybe what Firmino brings in respect of the football and the linking of the play, he brings the goals on the other side of that."

The former England international went on to specify that he believes it might be Mane who leaves, given Jota's versatility to play across the front three and Diaz being more suited to playing on the left.

"I don’t think they are going to be fine," Wright added. "You look at Mane. Firmino as well. If you want to keep it going, the way that Firmino plays, you would like to think that it can last a couple more years. It's not like he's blasting around the place running out of pace.

"So, you might even think that Mane might be the one who may leave simply because that’s the side Luis Diaz is playing. That’s the side Mane plays.

"You also look at who they would have to get to play like Firmino. Out of the two of them, you could keep Firmino because he plays like that. Diaz might be able to come in and do what Mane’s doing, although, it’s going to be a lot to ask for him."
