It’s been a rough fall from the top for Carson Wentz.
As experts including our Christian D’Andrea expected, The Washington Commanders released the quarterback on Monday, ending a one-year tenure that was awful (seven games started, 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions). Since he won a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles — albeit as NOT the starting QB — he’s played with the Indianapolis Colts and the Commanders, and now faces playing for a fourth team in as many years.
Yikes.
And when you look at what’s been traded for Wentz over the years in the hopes that he would live up to being the No. 2 overall pick in 2016 — the Eagles traded up to get him! — it’s pretty wild.
Carson Wentz over the past 3 offseasons:
2021: Traded to the Colts for a 2021 3rd and 2022 1st round pick
2022: Traded with a 2022 2nd and 7th round pick to the Commanders for 2022 2nd and 3rd round picks plus a 2023 3rd round pick
2023: Released by the Commanders
