A level grade boundaries 2019 for AQA, CEA, Pearson Edexcel and OCR on results day

Students across the North East are collecting their A level results on Thursday.

Our reporters and photographers are out at schools speaking to pupils as they discover how they did in their exams. Follow live updates here.

As for how A level results are graded, students' results will be anything from A*, A, B, C, D and E. If you fail your exam, you get a U (meaning ungraded).

The system that is used to decide what's written on your A level results sheet is based on grade boundaries.

Students who want to see what the grade boundaries are for their subject this year can check them on their exam board’s website, where they will be published first thing in the morning on results day.

These can be useful, for example, for checking whether your grade is close to the boundary for a higher mark.

In the meantime, check out our guide to university clearing and adjustment.
