A Lanarkshire Chapel could be converted into a home if granted planning permission

A chapel in East Kilbride could be given a new lease of life after being derelict for almost two decades.

A planning application to convert the former Phillipshill Hospital Chapel in East Kilbride into a family home has been submitted to South Lanarkshire Council.

The council received the application in March and validated it yesterday (August 3).

The former chapel has been unused for 17 years, it was originally built in the 1930’s and used as offices for a brief spell before being unoccupied.

The applicant seeks to renovate the building, including replacing windows and doors as the building has experienced slight deterioration due to it being unoccupied for so long.

The building was put up for sale at auction through Auction House Scotland in 2014.

The deadline for determining the application is October 2.
