The Yankees are finishing up their series in Cleveland with an afternoon game on Wednesday and their manager, Aaron Boone, will be watching most of it from the locker room. Boone was ejected during the first inning for arguing with the umpires over a play that he thought was wrongly reviewed.
And you know what? He had every right to be upset.
Here’s what happened: With two outs in the bottom of the first, Guardians’ Josh Naylor appeared to fly out to center. Both teams left the field but then a highlight of the play on the Jumbotron led fans in Cleveland to yell that Yankees center fielder Aaron Hicks trapped the ball and it should have been a hit.
The umpires then reviewed the play and overturned it, giving Naylor a hit and the Guardians a run.
Boone was upset because teams are supposed to only have 15 seconds after a play to call for a review and the Guardians didn’t seem to call for one in that time frame.

The ball was clearly out, but if the Guardians didn’t challenge the call in time then how can the umpires just review it?
Here was Guardian’s manager Terry Francona’s reaction to the play:

Seems like Boone had every right to be upset.
