A Florida man faces murder charges after letting his mother stay with him during Hurricane Milton.
Robert Hendrix, 32, is accused of killing 43-year-old Kristin Carrier, wrapping her body in a tarp and then leaving the body in his bedroom, News4Jax reported.
Hendrix's mother came to stay with him during Hurricane Milton in October 2024. She told police that during her stay, she found the body and immediately called her daughter, the station reported. After her daughter picked her up, the woman told her what she had found, and the daughter became "animated." The two women drove off and called police.
Hendrix was initially detained on unrelated charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana no more than 20 grams, and two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, First Coast News reported.
Police also "observed various blood patterns on the walls and floor," First Coast News reported, quoting police reports. While Hendrix was held on the drug charges, they continued their investigation into Carrier's death and announced second-degree murder charges recently.
According to News4Jax, Carrier was shot four times. Also, police have sent several items to be tested and analyzed including a knife and a baseball bat.
