A&E doctor at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital suddenly dies

Heartfelt tributes have been paid to an "incredible" doctor who has died suddenly at the age of 45.

Brad James, who worked in the emergency department (ED) at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant, was praised for going "above and beyond" for his patients.

Staff working across the Welsh NHS posted tributes on social media to praise the talented young medic and offer their condolences to his heartbroken family.

Amanda Farrow, an emergency department consultant at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital who was one of Brad's colleagues and close friends, said: "The ED will not be the same without him and we will miss his infectious, hilarious laugh and his funny stories. Goodbye Brad."

Consultant physician Raja Biswas said: "We've lost a wonderful, dedicated colleague, friend and doctor. He went much before his time. A friendly relaxed guy with a smile on his face always . RIP Brad James. You will be missed."

Brad, who is survived by his father and sister, died on Thursday, February 10 after suffering a sudden cardiac event the weekend before.

A spokesperson for Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB said: "It is with great sadness that we announce the death of an incredible doctor, Brad James.

"Brad worked in the ED at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital for many years and sadly passed away on February 10 after suffering a sudden cardiac event the weekend previous.

"He went above and beyond for his patients and was a very caring doctor. Brad was much loved by all the ED staff for his big heart, kindness, generosity, cooking and crazy gadgets."
