Roy Keane has suggested Leeds United players downed tools to get Jesse Marsch the sack. A frustrating 12 months at Elland Road for the American came to a crushing end following last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest.
Despite dominating large spells of the game, the story of Leeds’ season unfolded as their wastefulness in front of goal was punished. Fast forward one week and it is deja vu for Whites supporters as they finished empty-handed after another promising display against Manchester United.
A lack of cutting edge in front of goal has proven Leeds’ kryptonite this season. Once again, missed opportunities were punished as the Red Devils stunned the home crowd with two late goals.

Former Man United captain Keane has fired a scathing dig at Leeds players for their “disgraceful” performance at Forest. Not willing to buy into the improved performances since, the 51-year-old claimed they “got” Marsch the sack last week.
“They’ve obviously responded well to the sacking last week and it’s a huge decision for Leeds to make and get somebody in,” Keane told Sky Sports. “We talk about Leeds showing high energy but they didn’t show any of that last weekend but they reacted well in the week.
“There’s a lot of names there but whether they can get any of these managers (is anything thing). We’ve been told one or two have turned it down. Their fans have been fantastic but one win in eight – you need more than that.
“We talk about energy, they didn’t have energy against Forest. Their performance was a disgrace and that’s why they got their manager the sack.”
