The Chelsea fanbase has been left stunned following the sacking of head coach Thomas Tuchel.
The German was sacked on Wednesday morning following the Blues' 1-0 defeat at Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League. It hasn't been a good start to the season for Chelsea, who find themselves sixth in the Premier League table after suffering defeats at Leeds United and Southampton.
However, the news does still come as a surprise, especially as the transfer window shut just six days ago, and Tuchel was active in bringing the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Dennis Zakaria to the club.
Here's how Chelsea fans on social media reacted to the news of Tuchel's sacking.
@MxrkoH1999: "I like the fact that the club aren't standing for low performance but it's a bit early, isn't it?"
@iSlimfit: "I'm as much as I’m a big critic of Thomas Tuchel, I feel this is a bit hasty and harsh decision."
@TimPepper11: "I can’t help but think it’s a bit of a knee-jerk reaction. He’s helped in getting all these players in and he should be given the chance to mould them. This season was always going to be a rebuild after sanctions and Abramovich going."
@CFCDaily: "Nah. This doesn’t sit right with me."
@EastupperC: "This is a truly unbelievable decision. After how he supported us through sanctions last season and securing Champions League, bringing us the Champions League and identifying many of the players brought in this summer. Utterly ridiculous."
@MatthewMallon9: "A disgrace."
@ForeverBlue_07: "Why would you sack the manager 2 games after the window closed and backing him in the entire transfer window?"
@CFChelseaFCnews: "Backed him during transfer window, and now just sacked him? Unbelievable."
@sidmas88: "The hire and fire policy was arguably the reason we’re not consistently champions, shame to see it continue."
@max_bln21: "Such a poor decision… he gave us a Champions League, a European Super Cup, a Club World Cup , 2 FA Cup finals , 1 Carabao Cup final! Makes no sense."
