A college umpire made the worst interference call on Maryland runner who rammed into a UConn first baseman

It’s been a rough NCAA Baseball Tournament for umpires (did you see the ump that pushed an ECU player to stop him from admiring his homer?).

And after you see this call from the Maryland and UConn game, you’ll agree.

Here’s the situation: Maryland was down 10-8 to UConn in an elimination game, when Chris Alleyne of the Terps hit a slow grounder toward first. The pitcher grabbed it and tossed to Ben Huber at first base.

Alleyne rammed into Huber, who was standing on the base … and then an umpire called him out for interference, wiping a run off the board in a crucial moment.
