A Closer Look At All Fortnite: Battle Royale's New Skins In The Season 4 Battle Pass

Fortnite

Fortnite season 4 is here, and while the map has been devastated by a comet, what most fans are interested in are the new items popping up in the battle pass, particularly the new skins.

Season 4 has a superhero theme, but there are really only three total superheroic skins in the Fortnite battle pass, with the rest of them alternating between soldiers and other random types of skins. We’ll go through each of them so you can get a good look, and see when you’ll earn them (and whether you want to).

Fortnite

Carbide (Tier 1)

Once you buy the battle pass, you’ll be able to instantly unlock Carbide, who was the first hero teased when the theme was revealed. Just because we’re doing superheroes now, that doesn’t mean these character models have gotten any bulkier with muscle, as evidenced by Carbide here. He’s an original creation by Epic, like all of these are, and reminds me a tiny bit of Blue Beetle, minus the wings. A bit generic, perhaps, but not bad for Tier 1. Also, Carbide comes with a new series of challenges that will allow you to unlock additional looks for him through leveling up, so he may not remain generic for long. Each unlock adds a new piece to his armor set, which is why it looks like he’s wearing essentially an undersuit right now. When you’re finished, he’ll look more like blue Iron Man, and you’ll get his special pickaxe as well.

Fortnite

Battlehawk (Tier 1)

Also in Tier 1 is a new Battlehawk skin, a soldier with a mohawk and an eye patch which was not teased before today. He’s sort of a souped-up version of the existing soldier skins in the game, but he’s not even the best soldier skin in the season 4 battle pass, as you’ll see.

Fortnite

Teknique (Tier 23)

This was an interesting case, because graffiti artist Teknique was teased in the final day of the reveals last week, but it turns out she’s not a superhero at all, but a totally separate type of skin. Her gas mask made her look like she could be a hero in the trailer, but once you zoom out and see the whole skin, you can see that isn’t the case. She’s…fine, but probably one of my least favorites out of the ones in the battle pass.

Fortnite

Zoey (Tier 47)

Now we’re really getting outside the superhero theme with Zoey, a new female skin with a candy theme, green pigtails and bright clothes. Her harvesting tool, the Lollipopper, is attainable in the free tier system at Tier 46.

Fortnite

Valor (Tier 71)

Here we go. Now we’re finally moving into true superhero territory. Valor is arguably the best skin of this entire battle pass, and she also has a glider and harvesting tool you can earn at earlier tiers. She looks to be a take on an Indian version of Wonder Woman, which is very cool, though I don’t actually know what her superpowers are at this point (nor do I for these others). I think she’ll definitely be one of the most popular skins of this season, and I can’t wait to get her for myself.

Fortnite

Squad Leader (Tier 87)

He might have one of the most generic names in the game, but he’s actually a pretty solid skin. The “ultimate” soldier skin, he was one of the ones teased last week, but again, he’s not a superhero. He boasts some serious body armor and a wicked tattoo sleeve. Given that the more wacky Fortnite skins are usually the most popular, I’m not sure if he’ll be a fan favorite, but his design is pretty clean, I have to say.

Fortnite

Omega (Tier 100)

And here he is, your Tier 100 skin, Omega. My guess is that Omega is a villain, just from looking at him and his name, and I wonder if he’s supposed to be the arch-nemesis to Carbide, as the two do look like inverses of each other. Like Carbide, Omega also has “Omega challenges,” which will allow you to earn additional “styles” for Omega, though I can’t see any of those now. It’s something to do once you’ve maxed out your battle pass, for the most devoted or high-end players. That’s probably a good idea, given that I know a lot of people were just twiddling their thumbs after tier 100 last season, and this is a potentially cool “endgame” idea for both him and Carbide.

Those are all the skins, but there’s a lot of cool stuff in here. My favorite outside of these skins are probably the lightning and comet skydiving effects, and I also would imagine we might see a few more superhero skins pop up in the store down the road during this season, but we’ll see.

Alright, get to grinding!

Update: There appears to be one more legendary-tier skin you can unlock if you complete all challenges this season, but we don’t know what it is yet.
