'A clause or not' - Marco Silva makes Fabio Carvalho transfer admission amid Liverpool deal rumours

Fulham boss Marco Silva has heaped praise on youngster and Liverpool target Fabio Carvalho and addressed rumours suggesting a move to Anfield is 'done'.

The Championship club clinched promotion this week following their win over Preston North End on Tuesday night. The 19-year-old was on the scoresheet once again in the 3-0 win at Craven Cottage.

Liverpool attempted to sign Carvalho in the January transfer window and the deal was close to completion before they ran out of time on deadline day. The Echo understands the Merseyside club are closing in on a deal to sign the player at the end of the season for an initial fee of £5m.

Silva has addressed suggestion a deal is on the brink of completion and says he 'hasn't received news'.

He told reporters: “As you expect I am speaking with our board every single day, and until now I didn’t receive news about it.

“If there’s something, a clause or not with any club. For that, I don’t want to talk about rumours or if something is true or not.”

Carvalho has been a key player in Fulham's bid for promotion this term with 10 goals and seven assists in all competitions. Silva praised the academy graduate and insists he has a successful career ahead of him.

"He's been fantastic, he is a fantastic boy," he added. "I got him with just one year left on his contract, possibly the [only] bad thing I can think of.

"He's a young lad but he has a talent. When they have the talent, it is easy for the manager to work with. Apart from the talent, has the maturity to be a top football player, at 19 years old it's fantastic.

"Other qualities are fantastic as well. He likes to learn, he knows from the first day what I expect from him. We believed in him as well and make him important because he deserves it. He knows that we are always behind him, demanding from him, it's important for him to keep growing.

"I'm 100 per cent sure he will have a very good career ahead of him because he deserves it."
