The most wonderful time of the year might be over, but the most ~spiritual~ time is yet to come: New Year’s Eve 2024 — and not just because everyone will be drinking copious amounts of spirits. On the night, you’ll have the opportunity to summon positive energy for the new year (speaking of which, your horoscopes 2025 are available for you to suss), so don’t pass up this mystic occasion — get amongst these New Year’s Eve rituals!
The last day of the year is gateway that holds immense cosmic energy and infinite possibilities. Plus, it’s the last new moon of the year and not just any new moon, it’s a super rare Black Moon.
FYI: there’s power in numbers, so when you gather with your coven of mates, it might be a good idea to combine your collective and perform a joint ritual for the new year.

New Year’s Eve 2025 Rituals and Spells
New Year’s Eve rituals and spells to cast solo or with your nearest and dearest.
New Year’s Resolution Candle Spell
It’s likely that you’ll be sharing your New Year’s resos with your pals anyway, why not use actual candle magic to help manifest those goals?
You’ll need:
*A sheet of white A4 paper
*A black pen
*A white candle
*A carving tool (I recommend a sewing pin)
*A sage or Palo Santo stick (not essential, but helpful in cleansing the space)
What to do: In a safe space that has been cleansed, write your goals for the new year down on the white paper, being as specific as possible and focusing on your goals as you write (there should ideally be silence for this part). When you’re ready, read your resolutions aloud to your pals or to yourself.
Next, carve your full name and date of birth on the base of the candle. Then carve words that represent your goals all around the candle.
At midnight, light the candle and watch it burn. Obviously do not leave the candle unattended, so when you plan on going to bed, blow the candle out and continue to burn it over the coming days until it burns all the way down, signifying that your message has been delivered to the universe.
Banish Bad Energy Ritual
Have unwanted people come out of the woodwork this year? Are you being haunted by ghosts from your past? Is there a toxic relationship or friendship that you want to leave in 2023? Now is a great time to do the ol’ freezer trick. It’s an oldie, but a goodie.
You’ll need:
*A sheet of white A4 paper
*A black pen
*A small container
*A freezer (duh)
What to do: Light the candles and write down the full name of the undesired person, including their middle name and DOB if you have it. Under their info, write down their shitty behaviour and why you want them gone, focusing on how they’ve wronged you as you do this (replay it in your mind’s eye — visualisation is VERY important).
Fold the paper several times and pop it in the container.
Keep it in the back of the fridge until you feel that your wish has been granted, then you can burn the sheet of paper and move on with your life.
Home Cleansing Rituals
There are a series of rituals that call the spirits to rid your home of negative energy and summon only blessings.

Unblocking Ritual
Let’s face it, 2023 has been a cursed year. Like, 2020 levels of cursed. Let’s ensure that next year doesn’t have the same crooked energy by performing an Unblocking Ritual AKA a spell that removes obstacles from your path to allow positive stuff to find you. Is there something you’ve been trying to manifest, like, forever but it’s just not happening? Perhaps you have a blocked condition, so an unblocking is needed.
You’ll need:
*A crystal (clear quartz for healing, rose quartz for relationships, tiger’s eye, black obsidian or tourmaline for protection, citrine for success)
What to do: Close your eyes. Take the crystal and hold it in your hands, focusing on your goals and situations that have stopped you from achieving them.
When you’re done processing the shit part, then it’s time for the good part. Visualise all your goals coming to life. As you do this, move the crystal around your forehead in a circular motion.
Carry the crystal with you indefinitely until your goals start to materialise.
Angel / Oracle / Tarot Card Reading
New Year’s is a great time to pull cards, since the universe’s magic is more active than ever. Whatever your preferred deck of cards is, grab ’em and do a reading under the stars.
I always like to do a single-card pull on New Year’s Eve to see what the next 12 months will hold for me, but you can do whatever spread you like!
