Next week will see the launch of another Manchester restaurant, and this one promises to bring street-food style barbeque dining to Bridge Street. Inspired by Northern Thailand, Neon Tiger, a brand-new bar and kitchen concept will open on Thursday, June 9.
Part of Neon Tiger's offering will channel the principles of a Thai Grill House - known as Baan Yang - adopting traditional cooking processes over live fire and smoked meat, producing 'bold, fiery and unapologetic flavours'. The sharing-style dining concept, which will see dishes cooked over charcoal and served on small plates, will encompass dishes including flame-kissed skewers, lemongrass and smoked sausage and coal-roasted aubergine with soft boiled egg and sweet soy dressing.
Complementing these sharing dishes will be the centrepiece noodle bowl, which is designed to be enjoyed solo, with noodles hand-pulled locally in Manchester by the Komugi Noodles team. Diners can expect an aromatic yet light coconut Thai curry, tender cuts of marinated chicken, accompanied by crispy and soft noodles, plus an essential squeeze of lime.
Commenting on the opening Ben Morris, co-founder of Neon Tiger, said: “We love this city and are looking forward to bringing what we think will be a new F&B experience to Manchester. Neon Tiger was born from our obsession with classic neighbourhood bars, incredible wines and exciting cocktails.
"Food wise we have taken inspiration from some of our favourite restaurants like Kiln, Smoking Goat and Temper in London as we have always been massive fans of this style of BBQ and think that the bright and bold flavours you get from these dishes would shine in a more relaxed and bar focused space. Most of all we hope to have created a welcoming and comfortable environment for people to come and try some delicious things.”
On arrival, guests will be welcomed into a contemporary drinking space featuring a 'modern and minimal' open bar concept. Here, cocktails will be based on strong individual flavours including melon, pineapple, grapefruit and rhubarb.
Alongside this, the Northern Quarter's Ad-Hoc Wines will be curating a special wine menu - and wine flight - showcasing organic and sustainable wines from around the world. The wine menu will be fluid in as far as it will develop and change over time to present the very best small production they have in season.
Bookings will open from Monday, May 30, and the restaurant opens on Thursday June 9. Neon Tiger opening hours will be Monday to Thursday from 4pm to 12am; and Friday to Sunday from 12pm to 12am.
