Michael Keane has admitted that Everton will be trying to play a different way under Frank Lampard this season after what was a difficult end to the 2021/22 campaign.
The Blues struggled for much of last term and only secured their survival in the top division thanks to a 3-2 win against Crystal Palace at Goodison Park in the penultimate game. Keane himself got on the scoresheet, scoring his side's first as they fought back from 2-0 down at half time to spark incredible scenes on the pitch.
However, the style of football that the side were often playing in those closing matches was pragmatic and safe, taking little risks to make sure there was little opportunity for silly errors. However, with pre-season work already beginning at Finch Farm, the defender thinks that Everton will have a new look this term.

Keane told evertonfc.com : "Potentially this season, we will look to play a bit more and pass from the back more. We didn’t do those things much at the end of last season due to our situation, we couldn’t take too many risks.
"It is about patterns of play, knowing where people will be and having the confidence and ability to do it [pass from defence].
"Hopefully, we can play some good football, get ourselves in a good position in the table and play with a bit more freedom."
The Blues landed in the United States on Monday as they flew out for their first pre-season matches of the summer. Lampard's side will take on Arsenal this weekend before coming up against Minnesota United in Minneapolis next week.
Keane highlighted the dedication of Everton's growing support in North America, and believes that Arsenal will be a much-needed test for the side early in their preparations for the 2022/23 season.
He added: "The dedication they show in America to get up and congregate and watch the games is among the things that makes this club so special. The Evertonians in America are very passionate and we have a big fanbase there.
"It is nice to go to see them, to feel their support and say thank you for the backing they give us. Arsenal will be a good test, we want tough games, they make you feel better and fitter in the long run.
"We are looking forward to it and, hopefully, the fans enjoy a good occasion."
