A backstreet Sicilian restaurant opens in the Northern Quarter this week - with free food and prosecco

A tiny Italian street food spot in the Northern Quarter is moving to a new, larger site this week, and will be celebrating with plenty of freebies.

William Sicilian is leaving behind its home on Hilton Street for a larger restaurant space on Turner Street in the Northern Quarter.

The authentic bistro, which will be renamed Sicilian NQ, will be taking over the former La Boca site, just off High Street near the Arndale.

To celebrate its launch, Sicilian NQ is going to be offering samples of its food menu as well as free prosecco on arrival.

The new site means the addition of wine, beers and cocktails to their menu of traditional Sicilian street food.

Expect arancini (deep-fried risotto balls), cipollina (sweet onion pastry parcels) and cannoli (sweet, cream-filled pastry tubes).

Posting on Instagram as they left their original site, the team wrote: "We've loved meeting so many lovely people along the way, customers we've called friends at our little Hilton St shop, but now it's time to move on to bigger and better things in a fantastic new place on Turner St!

"We look forward to seeing you all soon and hope you'll join in our new Sicilian adventure.

"We have some very talented new faces added to our team, we can't wait to get started!

"See you all soon"

The launch night will take place on Thursday March 5 from 6pm at 14 Turner Street in the Northern Quarter.

Sicilian NQ will officially open on Friday March 6, and will be open 12pm to 11pm, Wednesday to Monday.
