As much as we love Dyson at Homes & Gardens, the price can be off-putting. They might be the best we've ever tested, and as an owner of two Dysons, I can personally vouch for that, but the cleaning power comes at a cost.
That's why, when I see a generous discount, it's worth shouting about. The Dyson V8 is on offer with $170 off. It was already the most affordable cordless from Dyson and you really won't find a better price right now to bring Dyson's signature suction power into your home.
I've spent more than 200 hours testing vacuums, including the best Dyson vacuums, and this deal is absolutely worth the spend if you're ready for a powerful upgrade to your home cleaning.
Why we love the Dyson V8

You might not expect it from such a small cordless stick, but the Dyson V8 is actually an excellent vacuum for carpets. 'Within minutes I had a full dust cup,' wrote seasoned tester Jaclyn Turner, adding that she didn't even mind how often she had to empty it because of all the dust it was pulling up.
This should come as no surprise from Dyson, but even though it isn't their latest or best cordless vacuum, this entry-level model still has that signature suction power.
And even at this entry-level price point, the V8 has two of my personal favorite features: the Motorbar and Fluffy floorheads. Having these two separate floorheads means you get specialized cleaning across all surfaces (more on this in my vacuum jargon buster).
The Motorbar has anti-tangle veins (I can attest that they genuinely never get wrapped with hair) that can dig dirt out of carpet, and the Fluffy has a soft brushroll to capture all the super-fine dust and particles from hard floors, without scratching it. As it also works exceptionally well on hard floors, it makes a great vacuum for hardwood floors.
'As expected, the Dyson V8 is an excellent handheld companion for cleaning in between the seats of the car or sofa, dusting up high along the crown molding, or taking to cleaning pet beds with the mini-motorized tool,' Jaclyn explained.
This mini-motorized tool is actually the best vacuum attachment for pet hair that we've ever used. It's standard across all of Dyson's cordless models, and it's honestly incredible at yanking fur from upholstery, so much so that it once revived an old dog bed to its original color.
Its suction power isn't as strong as their latest models, sure, but if you're on a budget, the Dyson V8 is an excellent choice – especially with a lovely $170 discount.

More options
The Dyson V8 is a great choice for all of the many reasons I've mentioned, but if you're in the market for a new vacuum, it's worth looking around to see if you could enjoy some newer or improved features.
This is currently the latest (and our favorite) cordless vacuum from Shark, and it's also on offer right now making it even cheaper than the Dyson V8. It has a longer (70-minute) runtime, a flexible wand for reaching under furniture more easily, and the option for a self-emptying and self-cleaning charging station.

A few steps up from the Dyson V8 is the Dyson V11, with an impressive 185 air watts of suction, meaning it has stronger suction power than most cordless sticks (they average at around 100 to 130). It also has a 60-minute runtime and an LCD screen for more insight into your cleaning.
I use the Dyson V12 Detect Slim in my own home. If you can afford the extra few hundred dollars, you'll be able to enjoy a green laser that genuinely reveals invisible dust that you otherwise can't see. It also senses what's on your floors to maintain the optimal suction at all times.
