It may be bitterly cold outside but it's time to reach for your trainers as the popular Parc Margam 10k prepares to return next month. The event, which aims to raise thousands of pounds for charity, launched last March and was so popular, organisers have arranged for it to take place again this year.
Participants can choose between a 5k or 10k run, both of which take them through the beautiful surroundings of Margam Country Park. Runners will pass by three of the park's gorgeous lakes before meandering through pretty woodland trails and past pleasant fields full of deer.
Entrants will also help raise funds and awareness for two charities: the National Autistic Society Cymru and Neath Port Talbot Strike Group, organisations which were chosen for fundraising this year by the Mayor of Neath Port Talbot's Charity Fund.

This year's race is being sponsored by John Pye Auctions, based at the Kenfig Industrial Estate in Margam. South Wales site manager at John Pye Auctions, Jonathan Beasley, said: "Since opening our South Wales Auction Hub, we’ve been thrilled to be able to support and become part of the local community. We're delighted to continue our support of the Parc Margam 10k. Building on the huge success of last year's event, we're looking forward to meeting runners from all over south Wales on March 12 and thank them in advance for helping two amazing charities."
Mayor of Neath Port Talbot, Cllr Robert Wood, added: "The Parc Margam 10k is a great way to exercise and at the same time raise money for worthwhile charities in what are truly breathtaking surroundings, and I'd like to thank all those planning to take part in this year's event."
