A 97-year-old war veteran who is about to experience his third royal coronation was among local community champions from across West Lothian who were invited to attend a coronation event hosted by The Provost Cathy Muldoon and Depute Provost of West Lothian, Peter Heggie.
The special Afternoon Tea event took place at the Burgh Halls in Linlithgow on the afternoon of Wednesday 3 May 2023 to mark the upcoming coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
Each community champion was invited by a local councillor from their respective ward area of West Lothian.
Guest of honour was 97-year-old veteran William Mason (guest of Cllr Jim Dickson from Whitburn & Blackburn ward) who served in WWII and is about to experience his third coronation.
Among the community champions were volunteers who work with Community Councils, Brownies, Guides, Scouts, Gala Day committees, Community Fridges, Community Gardens, projects for the elderly, West Lothian Carers, and Livingston Rotary Club.

Also invited were representatives from different churches and faiths, Police Scotland, FJSS and Royal British Legion Scotland.
West Lothian schools’ piper Douglas Baird piped the guests as they arrived.
Guests were entertained by a flute ensemble directed by Sue Evans.
