A 95-year-old woman with dementia has been left with a fractured skull after being tasered twice by police in a care home. Police were called after Clare Nowland, a mother-of-eight, was found holding a knife at Yallambee Lodge, in New South Wales, Australia.
The Guardian Australia reports police tasered her twice, once in her chest and once in the back. As she fell, she hit her head.
A police spokesman said: "A critical incident investigation has been launched after an elderly woman sustained injuries during an interaction with police at an aged care facility in the state’s south today.
“A critical incident team will now investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
